Coach Bonuchi came to Excelsior Springs in 1959 as an assistant football coach and physical education teacher from William Jewell College where he was a stand-out 3 sport athlete.

In 1961 Vic took over as the head football coach and had a record of 5-3-1.  He remained in that position until 1971 where he compiled a record of 81-12-6.  From 1963-1968 the Tigers went 45 games without a loss.  This still ranks 4th all-time in the state of Missouri for games played without a loss.

Coach Bonuchi started the wrestling program in 1961 and coached his teams to two state titles in 1974 and 1975.

Vic also coached baseball later in his tenure and brought home three state trophies in baseball in 1995, 1996 and 1999.
